At LevelCraft Concrete, we build slabs that hold up against Florida’s weather, heavy traffic, and tough job sites.

Whether you’re in Orlando, Jacksonville, or somewhere in between, we deliver concrete slabs that are built to last.

What is a concrete slab?

A concrete slab is a flat, reinforced surface poured over a solid base. It’s the backbone of many commercial and industrial spaces, supporting everything from sidewalks to heavy equipment. For a concrete slab to last, it needs to be level, well-supported, and properly sloped. We take the time to get it right, so your foundation stays strong for years to come.

Our Concrete Slab Installation Process

Quality pavement installation is all about proper prep, accurate grading, and precision placement. Here’s how we make sure every slab is built right:

1. Preparing the Area

  • We mark and excavate the area to the correct depth, allowing for the sub-base, mortar bed, and slab thickness.
  • A typical excavation includes a 100 mm sub-base and a 50 mm mortar bed, with the final surface set 150 mm below any adjacent building’s damp-proof course.

2. Installing the Sub-Base

  • A compacted layer of hardcore or gravel is laid down, around 100 mm deep for structural support.
  • We compact each layer thoroughly and shape it with a ¼ inch per foot slope for proper drainage.

3. Laying the Slab

  • We spread a fresh mortar bed beneath each paved area (4 parts sharp sand to 1 part cement).
  • Slabs are set carefully, leveled with a rubber mallet, and aligned with precision to maintain consistent gaps.
  • All elevations are checked with a spirit level to ensure even slope and clean lines.

4. Cutting & Finishing

  • Any required slab cuts are made cleanly using a diamond disc for a perfect fit.
  • Jointing compound is swept into gaps to lock the slabs into place.
  • The mortar is allowed to cure for at least 24 hours, protected from rain or foot traffic during this time.

Where You’ll See Our Concrete Slabs

We pave smaller areas, using additional reinforcing elements to ensure they withstand heavy use. Here are some examples:

  • Commercial equipment platforms
  • Dumpster pads and aprons
  • Walkways, patios, and courtyards
  • Foundations for lift stations and utilities
  • Loading docks and heavy-use areas

Our concrete slab work is often part of larger commercial paving and infrastructure projects across Central Florida, improving local businesses with dumpster pads and rural properties with paved areas to keep farm equipment safe.
